What is physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a treatment individuals rely on when health problems and/or pain make it difficult to move and do everyday tasks. Treatment plans work to reduce pain and inflammation, and increase flexibility, strength and endurance through exercise, movement, education and various techniques.

What is unique about Healing Motion Physical Therapy?

At Healing Motion Physical Therapy, we look at the whole person, and recognize the complete picture to determine the best treatment possible to reduce pain and discomfort. Our goal is to improve movement health and restore physical function to the patient’s desired activity and fitness levels.

How will physical therapy help me?

Healing Motion Physical Therapy will work with you and your doctor to discuss your options and will determine which physical therapy treatment will be best for you.

What do I need to bring to my first visit?

Bring your physician’s prescription to attend physical therapy and your insurance card. To see if we participate with your insurance provider, please check with your insurance provider or Contact us for more information.

At your appointment, please also bring:

  • Completed patient information form
  • Completed insurance information
  • List of current medications 
  • Any assistive devices you currently use

What happens at a physical therapy visit?

Each patient is unique, and sessions vary by needs. We will evaluate your concerns and work with you to establish a care plan to resolve the components that contribute to your symptoms and physical limitations.

What should I wear?

Because you will probably perform some exercises, bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and a pair of sneakers. Please make sure the clothing you wear will allow the physical therapist to easily evaluate your problem.

How long does each session typically take?

The initial examination takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Depending on your symptoms and rehabilitation plan, subsequent sessions will last 30 to 60 minutes.

Do I need a referral (prescription)?

No, you do not need a referral to receive our services. Please check with your insurance provider, however, as many insurance plans do require the physician referral.

Will my insurance cover physical therapy?

Most insurance plans include benefits for physical therapy. We can work with you and your insurance company to help determine your coverage based on your policy. In addition to insurance, we offer a fee for service and also can work on payment plan options for you.
